jingle jangle

I have no idea what triggered this, but I can’t get a jingle out of my head.

It’s from years and years ago, growing up in northeast Indiana, and it was for some sort of a petting zoo/children’s amusement park. The jingle went like this:

“feed the deer and ride a pony, feed the deer and ride the train… feed the deer and pet a llama, feed the deer and ride again…”

I’ve done an informal survey of my office and the general consensus is that, well, I’m insane.

Does anyone else remember this commercial? I’ve googled but no luck. I’m going crazy here, folks!

  1. Deer Forest!

    Actually, I remember it as…
“Feed the deer, ride a pony, feed the deer and ride a train. Feed the deer, have a hot dog, feed the deer and ride again. Ride a camel, pet a llama, talk to folks from nursrey rhymes. Feed the deer (something, something), feed the deer – a day of fun.”

(Don’t know you, just surfed by while checking out random blogs, but I just had to comment to let you know you’re not insane!)

  2. I remember it as…
“Feed the deer, ride a pony, feed the deer and ride a train. Feed the deer, have a hot dog, feed the deer and ride again. Ride a camel, feed a llama, talk to folks from nursery rhymes. Feed the deer, ride and picnic, feed the deer, a day of fun.”

Then the announcer asks, “what’s at deer forest?” And the crowd of kids shouts “It’s a whole day of fun!” (which would make sense, if they didn’t say “it’s”).

The voiceover then said, “Deer Forest. Off I-94 Coloma, open daily.”

Wow. And yet I can’t remember where I park when I go to Wal-mart. Maybe we’re all insane.

  3. I want you guys to know that I was trying to remember the name of that park so I could take the kids I nanny. All I remembered was the jingle, and so I Googled the jingle lyrics.

And thanks to TK’s memory, I even have the directions now.

    ❤ internets.
